Alanis Morissette

Alanis Morissette, who is a native of Canada, was born June 1 1974, in Ottawa. Alanis' Greek is a female form of the surname Alan's father had. Georgia is the name of her mother. She also has two brothers named Chad and Wade. She started playing the piano at age 6 and the guitar when she was 21. In 1986 Alanis made a single called Fate Stay With me (b-side: Find The Right Man). Then, in Canada, Alanis recorded two dance-pop albums, Alanis (in 1991) and now Is The Time in 1992. Her move to Toronto at the age of 18, and began working alongside writers and musicians, but this collaboration didn't go as planned. Glen Ballard was the producer/songwriter she decided to go with in 1994. Glen had previously worked with Aretha Frankin, Michael Jackson and Barbra Strreisand. After moving to LA, she turned 19 in the year 1994. Madonna came out with "Jagged Little Pill" the song on June 13th on the 13th of June in 1995. Alanis was able to find an intimate, personal method of writing songs. JLP had sold over 30 million copies worldwide and is the most-sold female-oriented album ever.
